The Switchblade Act of 1958 was only enacted for political reasons. This law is an outdated result of early 20th century media depictions. On top of this, a switchblade is no more lethal than a gun, which are legal nearly everywhere in this country for self-defense purposes. Switchblades are no more deadly than other knives and are a tool for personal protection and everyday use. Their association with gang violence is unnecessary and inaccurate outside of media depiction. Switchblades should be allowed for self defense as open carry and concealed carry self-defense weapons.
