Strip the Federal Reserve of its "maximum employment" mandate by repealing Sec2a of the 1977 Federal Reserve Act

Created by B.F. on November 10, 2015

We the people, petition the President and U.S. Congress to repeal Title II, Section 2a of public law 95-188 that provides the Federal Reserve the "maximum employment" portion of its dual mandate.

In granting monopoly power to 12 un-elected bureaucrats to dictate global economic policy, we believe this mandate has had a gravely insidious and deleterious effect on both the U.S. and global economy over the course of the nearly four decades it has been in existence by facilitating the creation of repeated global boom/bust cycles, financial asset bubbles, accumulation of untenable levels of consumer and government-related debt, development of structural imbalances in the global economy that are precluded from clearing and increasingly, civil strife-producing income inequality in the U.S.
