The 2005 REAL ID Act is a law that mandates excessive minimum standards states must meet when processing identification cards and driver licenses. Such standards are very expensive and not so privacy friendly. Such law, which was voted with utmost republican support in the house or representatives, will result in less people boarding commercial planes or even doing things most of us take for granted such as applying for social security or even immigration benefits. Our president Barack Obama and his admin. must take a realistic look at the costs of enforcing such unfunded and state rights-infringing mandate. I urge him and every member of congress to repeal such disastrous law and direct the Dept. of Homeland Security to refund states that implemented the act's standards.
