The US has been an amazing experiment in nation building. But we in the 21st Century cannot be beholden to an idea conceived in 1791, a time when this vast and empty land was increasingly inhabited by people fleeing repressive societies who wished to feed and protect themselves in a remote wilderness lacking any infrastructure. The best Constitution in the world means there has been and could be no threat to the people of the Unites States for which an armed militia might be required. Times have changed, as has what it means to be American..
Since we neither wish to nor are able to control the will of Man, all we can do is control his lethality. It may take a generation or two, but it's the right thing to do.
It's time to repeal the 2nd Amendment.
