The "Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993" (RFRA) is Constitutionally dubious and, as evidenced by recent political activity, quite capable of being wielded as a sword rather than an (assumed) intended shield.
The U.S. Constitution and derivative systems already provide ample protections if not preferred status to religious organizations (e.g., 501(c)3, Form 990 exemptions, religious-exempt daycare facilities, vaccination, etc.), many of which seem an effective "establishment" of special standing - often to the detriment of society or society's most vulnerable.
Religious concerns should be give no special consideration that is not otherwise afforded every organization or citizen under the law. This is a horrific Act, and the basis for many misguided efforts at the states' level.
