A semi-universal healthcare system could solve many problems by giving Americans a choice to: a) not get insurance; b) go to a private insurance company; c) have their insurance paid through their employer; or d) choose to invest in a universal healthcare plan, in which the government would pay for medical care in exchange for slightly higher taxes on them. It would let them be in control of how they're insured, neither being forced to use universal healthcare or fight for coverage from private companies.
