According to the Center for Disease Control and Humane Society of the United States breed bans are proven ineffective in reducing harm as a result of dog bites. As stated by the CDC, " In the interim, adequate funding for animal control agencies, enforcement of existing animal control laws, and educational and policy strategies to reduce inappropriate dog and owner behaviors will likely result in benefits to communities and may well decrease the number of dog bites that occur." These breed bans ignore the root problem of irresponsible pet ownership and place the blame on the breed rather than humans inability to take action to properly train and control the dog. Many of these alleged aggressive breeds are even used for therapy dogs. Please lift these bans and get rid of BSL forever.
