1. REPEAL ALL FARM SUBSIDY PROGRAM. These programs were establish when farming was a family own and operated small farm. Today most farm land is owned by large investors who may or may not directly or indirectly farm. Land may be left idle or used for other purposes. In any case it the land owner who receives and not the farmer in the majority of cases. The land owner has no liability if crops should fail and yet in today's system benefits are paid annually regardless.
2. National Crop Insurance Program. Taxpayers pay 62 percent of farmers crop insurance at a cost of $7 billion a year for 2012. In addition it reimburses administrative cost for the 15 insurance companies that sell the policies costing $1.4 billion in 2012 and also protect these companies from any financial loss.
