Guns kill people. There is no way around the fact that the overwhelming abundance of firearms, loosely controlled, in our society creates fear and destroys too many innocent lives to be tolerated by our modern culture. We do not live in the mythic Old West where disputes are settled at the end of a gun barrel. We do not need guns, we only want guns. We have yet to see any militias let alone "a well regulated militia" thereby nullifying the constitutional inducement to "keep and bear arms". The Constitution is a living creation and in the past has been amended to keep abreast of the moral and ethical values of an evolving society. The time for change is now.
