The enhanced airport security screening requirements have cost the American people and their visitors incalculable time and money. It has negatively impacted productivity in this country and has a significant economic impact. The measures themselves have not been proven to significantly increase overall security and safety while flying and there have been multiple high profile incidents and numerous less well known incidents where dangerous articles have still made their way on board aircraft. The impact to our privacy and freedom by these intrusive and wasteful procedures is both unnecessary and too costly. It would be far cheaper, less intrusive, and arguably more effective to expand the Air Marshal program and use more passive surveillance techniques to ensure air travel security.
