The EPA banned DDT in 1972 due to environmental activism and a lack of political accountability. The EPA Hearing Examiner’s final 1972 decision: “DDT is not a hazard to man when used correctly.” The EPA administrator overruled this position.
DDT is effective. From 1940-1960s, DDT eradicated insect-borne diseases from the United States such as malaria, dengue fever, and west nile. DDT also decimated beg bug infestations, protected fields of crops and forests from pests.
DDT is safe. The U.S. Public Health Service performed tests feeding human volunteers DDT in their food: No adverse effects resulted.
DDT is necessary. Malaria kills over 100 million people each year. Dengue fever is on the rise. Bed bug infestations have increased 500%.
