The Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule ("COPPA")
bans children from accessing certain sites on the internet.
This act is pointless in the sense that children can just bypass this by entering a new birth date. But why? It is completely unnecessary. Whether the child can have access to a certain website is the individuals/parents decision. The government should not invade on this part of ones life. Internet safety should just be taught to the public, not control them. Before a child opens up an account, he/she should know the base rules/ safety tips SET by the parents - NOT THE GOVERNMENT.
