Repeal Columbus Day as a national holiday and replace it with National Indigenous Day.

Created by P.P. on June 29, 2014

On the second Monday of every October, Americans recognize and honor the legacy of Christopher Columbus. However, some are unaware of the atrocities that were committed by him, including the enslavement and slaughter of hundreds of thousands of the native peoples of Hispaniola. For America to have a holiday celebrating Columbus would be like Germany having a holiday that celebrates Adolf Hitler.

If Columbus Day were repealed, it should be replaced with National Indigenous People's Day, which not only honors the natives of Hispaniola, but all the natives of the North American continent.
