Repeal Daylight Savings Time

Created by A.B. on March 07, 2014

Daylight Savings Time is this weekend. I propose that this be the LAST time change that America ever does. We should Spring Forward, and stay there.

An early goal of DST was to reduce evening use of energy, with new energy efficent divices, usage patterns differing greatly. DST is no longer needed to help America save energy.

DST clock shifts present other challenges. They complicate timekeeping, disrupt meetings, travel, billing, record keeping, medical devices, heavy equipment, and sleep patterns. Studies have linked an Increase in heart attacks and traffic accident for up to 3 days after we switch.

Economically it cost the US money. In 2007, the rule change cost an estimated $1 billion, in 2000 the daylight it cost the stock exchage a one day total of 31 billion.
