Over a hundred and ten years have passed since the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Downes v. Bidwell, diminished the rights of U.S. territory citizens to a second-class status, or less. Most of these citizens volunteer for U.S. military service, yet they are not afforded the same protections of the constitution that they defend. This level of blatant disregard is reprehensible. I challenge this administration to reevaluate U.S. Supreme Court decision "Downes v. Bidwell" 182 U.S. 244 (1901) for legislative and electoral equality, and, if necessary, repeal this decision and place the citizens of the U.S. territories in an equal legal status as natural-born American citizens. It is time the United States shows appreciation and equality for its territories which so quickly come to its defense.
