We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Repeal the Electoral College and Amend the 12th Amendment so the U.S. President is Decided by Popular Vote

Created by K.R. on July 01, 2016

We the People demand that the President be decided by Popular Vote & that the Electoral College & ability for the House of Reps to choose the President be revoked. We also demand that the candidate with the most votes, even if less than 50%, becomes the President.

Under the 12th Amendment, the President will be the person who receives the majority of the electoral votes (270 for the 2016 election). If 270 votes are not received, the House of Reps will cast votes & decide the President. The last election where the President was decided by the House of Reps was in 1824, close calls in 1948, 1968 & 2000. Based on this process & political outlook for the 2016 election, if a 3rd party candidate wins only ONE State's electoral votes, then the House of Reps would get to decide the President.
