As a United States Citizen, I do not feel that my voice is being heard during Presidential Elections. Almost half of eligible voters do not feel that their vote matters (only 58.7% of the eligible populace went to the polls during the 2012 election). During campaigns, many states are ignored because they are not "key states".
By definition, the Electoral College overrides the voter's voice. Dictionary.com states, "These electors, rather than the public, actually elect the president and the vice president," and "Electors are now pledged in advance to vote for the candidate of their party, and nearly always do so."
By returning to the Popular Vote model, I believe more U.S. Citizens would vote and therefore be less passive when it comes to our future as a nation.
