Repeal the Electoral College

Created by B.L. on May 14, 2013

“It's a violation of the most fundamental principles of democracy, meaning equality in voting. Under the Electoral College, every citizen vote does not count the same. As a result, the candidate who gets fewer votes can win the election. I can't see how that's a good idea under democracy.” -George C. Edwards, Senator of Maryland. The Electoral College is an atrocity that should never have been. The four main points in the arguments against it are: the Electoral College’s irrelevance; it being subject to gerrymandering; its promotion of both personal inequalities, inequalities of the states, and inequalities of the American territories, and its inability to properly reflect election results.
