Despite its name, the Federal Reserve is a private bank with incomparable power over our economy and granted unreasonable power by Congress. This includes the fact that the Federal Reserve holds captive Congress' right to alone issue American currency. The Federal Reserve operates in complete secrecy, not only to the people but even the government. Its method of fractional reserve banking is destroying the dollar and the livelihoods of countless citizens. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered."
