The Firearms Owners' Protection Act restricts ownership of newly manufactured machine guns and prohibits the import, and possession of machine guns manufactured after May 19, 1986 by civilians. Machine guns manufactured prior to this date are available for civilian ownership under the National Firearms Act regulations. The 2nd amendment to the U.S. constitution states ". . .the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" under the FOP Act this right is being infringed and is therefore violating the Constitution. The FOP Act should be repealed and allow law abiding citizens to exercise their right to bear arms by being allowed to import and own newly manufactured machine guns.
