Repeal the First Amendment

Created by J.P. on July 05, 2014

The First Amendment does not, as is often claimed, neutralize power by giving everyone an equal chance to speak. On the contrary, First Amendment law is always politically inflected, and often used to maintain the status quo and disempower those already marginalized.

In addition, the First Amendment has been used for too long to justify bigotry, hate speech, and superstition-based discrimination. Its supposed "protections" are simply not worth the high price.

We ask the administration to call upon congress to propose a amendment repealing the 1st amendment and additionally prohibiting hate speech, forbidding hate groups and cults from association, and declaring the United States to be a secular nation free of superstition, as it was intended to be by the (atheist/deist) founding fathers.
