Whereas birds contaminate our planet with their pathogenic feces;
Whereas birds spread diseases such as conjunctivitis, salmonellosis, cryptococcosis, Lyme disease, psittacosis, histoplasmosis, toxoplasmosis, and Newcastle disease;
Whereas birds attack aircraft, jeopardizing the lives of millions of people;
Whereas bird attacks prevent us from obtaining clean, renewable, domestically-generated wind and solar power, leaving us dependent upon nations that support terrorism in order to satisfy our energy needs;
Whereas birds threaten our food supply by destroying hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of crops and livestock annually;
We request that President Obama repeal the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 and allow Americans to defend themselves from this feathered scourge.
