Repeal the Hughes Amendment

Created by A.C. on June 05, 2014

On the day of April 10th, 1986 , The Firearms Owners Protection Act (FOPA) was taken into voting. With less than 4 minutes left in the "meeting", both sides were legally required to reach an agreement in the remaining time, otherwise they would have to request another meeting at a further time. As the 4 minutes remaining came to an end, neither side had reached an agreement - and legally were required to meet at a later time if they wanted to pass the Firearms Owners Protection Act. In addition to not coming to an agreement within the 4 minutes; one of the speakers proposed the Hughes Amendment AFTER voting time ended. The law was illegally passed.(no more typing space)

You can watch the vote take place here, or on many government archives.
