This petition is to repeal the Hughes amendment of the Firearm Owner Protection act of 1986. This amendment made the purchase of brand new firearms with *burst fire and/or **automatic fire after May 19, 1986 illegal. The Hughes amendment was downed with 124 yeas and 297 nays. But instead it passed with a controversial voiced vote. This not is a major violation of our rights as American citizens.
*burst fire is one trigger pull fires 3-5 bullets
**automatic fire is one trigger pull for all rounds in a magazine
