Repeal The Jones Act as it applies to US territories outside of the US Mainland.

Repeal the Jones Act as it relates to all US territories outside of the US Mainland. This law prohibits non-US flagged vessels from providing service from the US Mainland to the US territories…a situation which creates a monopolistic environment by a limited number of ocean carriers who service these markets. Costs associated with shipping product from the US to US territories (i.e. Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii, etc.) are excessively high compared to rates provided by international/global carriers because of the very limited competition of Ocean Carriers with US Flagged vessels. This petition seeks to exclude US territories outside of the US mainline from this law, thus allowing more free competition for this service.
