repeal language preventing research into gun injury by the CDC

Created by A.R. on December 21, 2012

We wish to repeal the Amendment that dictates the prevention of valid research into gun violence in the U.S. by the NIH and the CDC.

The Amendment states that, “None of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be used to advocate or promote gun control.” and was written for gun lobbyists in order to squelch valid, valuable scientific inquiry by government agencies whose express purpose for existing is to help We The People identify weaknesses in public health policy. Such awareness is essential to help to thwart public health crises, such as the appalling numbers of Americans killed by guns each year. This amendment gives lobbyists undue influence in public health policy to the detriment of The People of the U.S.
