Repeal Lautenberg Act. This ammendment has caused misd. domestic violence charges to permanently take away gun rights.

Created by T.M. on November 15, 2012

The Lautenberg ammendment effectively makes a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence turn into a felony should the person ever possess firearms or ammunition. This prohibition is for life. Many times a person charged with a crime of misdemeanor domestic violence was acting in self defense when they are charged. This blind law affects both men and women. Furthermore, the Lautenberg ammendment forces law abiding citizens out of the military and out of law enforcement positions. It is unjust to take away someone's right to self defense for life for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. It is also wrong to take away someone's source of livelihood for a misdemeanor charge. This bill was passed as a rider with other legislation, and would never have been passed on its own merit. Repeal this.
