The Monsanto Protection Act harms consumers, farmers and our economy.
For consumers, it's about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOS). For example, Monsanto has a very popular strain of corn that you are eating right now. It's Roundup resistant which means that they spray Roundup directly on crops for weed control. What that means for you is that you and your family are ingesting Roundup in your food and in your drinks (corn syrup).
For farmers: most farmers who plant seed are forced to use Monsanto products. Monsanto has a near monopoly which is bad for the farmer's bottom line as well as taking away opportunities to bring variants to market.
For our economy: Europe has banned GMOs. That means we cannot export our beef and chicken or our crops to a global market.
