As of today, President Obama has singed HR 735, otherwise known as the Monsanto Protection Act, into law. The law gives unprecedented powers and rights to companies producing and distributing geneteically modified organics. As Americans concerned about the state of our agricultural system, and the quality and safety of our food supply, we find this law to be unconscionable.
Protecting the corporate interests of a company that already has a near monopoly on one of the basic necessities of life cannot be tolerated. Nor can the provisions within the law that allow companies to distribute potentially unsafe foods with little to no legal recourse possible.
For the protection of ourselves, our children, and the future of agriculture, we the people demand that HR 753 be repealed immediately.
