When you turn 18 in the U.S., you are for all intents and purposes an adult. You can vote and be drafted into the military. But the one thing you cannot do at 18 is purchase alcohol. Why?
The current drinking age does not stop young people from drinking; in fact, it drives it behind closed doors and into more reckless situations.
In addition to antagonizing young people who wish to drink, the 21 drinking age creates the paradox of 18 to 20-year-olds being charged as adults for the the sole reason of doing an activity they are told they are not adult enough to do. Convince Congress to repeal the National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 (which withholds highway funding from states that do not set their drinking age to 21,) and to urge all states to lower the drinking age to 18
