The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 and the current national legal drinking age of 21 strips millions of Americans from exercising their responsibilities and privileges as adults. Not only would this grant rightfully deserved privileges to those old enough to die for their country, but would also decrease fatalities that occur due to fear of getting caught. It is time for the United States to catch up with almost every developed nation by repealing this unjust law and allowing for states to lower the legal drinking age to the age of the majority without suffering financial or political consequences.
