In many states (if not all), when one turns 18 years of age, one can vote, serve on juries, marry, sign contracts, be tried and prosecuted as an adult, join the armed forces, purchase and use tobacco products, and even purchase and use firearms. There is no credible reason to prohibit adults that are not 21 years of age from purchasing and consuming alcohol.
