The No Child Left Behind Act is failing our kids. The standards that have been imposed upon teachers and schools to hit their scores is putting so much pressure on the children. 1st Grade material is now taught in Kindergarten; 5 year olds are expected to actually read at a level 6 before moving on. The students are wracked with anxiety. My 1st grader has homework that is "supposed" to take no longer than 20 min./night. Instead, we spend double just to get the work done. What has happened to childhood? Our children are learning to be stressed out! The teachers are teaching to the test. This Act has not attained the education reform for which it was intended.
