The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLBA) of 2001 is an attempt to make sure that no student, no matter how far behind, will remain in a cohort with their respective year of students. It also threatens to cut funding to state education programs unless they constantly batter the students with standardized tests.
The attempt to keep all students together has the conspicuous effect of holding most students back in terms of curricular needs. Every student in America must not be represented by the lowest common denominator. This does not only hold back a student, but create an attitude of frustration towards the education system.
This act effectively tries to make every student conform, and stay back in curriculum with the lowest common denominator.
