repeal the No Child Left Behind Act

Created by J.R. on April 07, 2013

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, started by former Presiden George W. Bush, was an attempt by the Bush Administration to standardize education, making all education in the United States equal, and, hopefully, to increase the level of development our children were achieving. In actuality, however, this program has failed in more ways than it has succeeded. It has set the standard of teaching at a level lower than the average, making education worse, and has resulted in more and more teachers "teaching to the test," which is to say teaching just the information that schoolchildren need for the standardized tests. We ask for the Obama administration to repeal this act, allowing for more flexibility in the education system, and therefore a higher level of education overall.
