Recent legislative changes have been made which amended the law prohibiting women from serving in a primary combat role. As a result of these changes, it is no longer reasonable to maintain the Selective Service Act as it currently stands. Currently only male citizens and certain male immigrants are required to register for selective service.
The Selective Service Act needs to either be repealed or amended to require all U.S. citizens and immigrants between the ages of 18 and 25 to register, regardless of gender. Maintaining the Selective Service Act as it stands is tantamount to government sponsored gender discrimination and should not be tolerated. Past reviews have found this law reasonable only because women were restricted from combat, this is no longer the case.
