Repeal or Cause to Have Amended Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act

We the People of the United States do petition the President to repeal or cause to have amended Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act, which by its deliberate wording causes those who are entered into same sex marriages to be denied the same rights as those who are in opposite sex marriages. By granting protection to those of opposite sex marriages, and denying protection to those of same sex marriages, we feel this is highly discriminatory in light of recent and past laws that prohibit discrimination for any reason. We urge the President and members of Congress to remedy this situation with utmost haste.
