This petition calls on the President to introduce legislation which will repeal firearm manufacturers legal exemption from prosecution for the wrongful death or injuries caused by their products.
Specifically repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act introduced in 2005. The act prevents victims of gun violence from suing gun manufacturers/dealers for negligence involving there products.
Also hold the firearms manufacturers accountable for all accidental deaths/disabilities involving their products. Prohibit marketing of firearms towards minors in all forms of media.
Firearm manufacturers should be no more exempt from lawsuits than tobacco manufacturers. Hold them financially accountable for the death and destruction they cause.
