Repeal this Act, or at least give something other than petty reassurance in response to this petition.
There was a petition similar to this demanding that the PATRIOT Act be repealed. It was met with a condescending reply that assured us that the PATRIOT Act was "...now fundamental to the way we conduct national security investigations.". Somehow, the White House thought that this was a good thing. I would rather not let the government have access to my telecommunications, search through my belongings, and have a presence in my personal life. There has to be a way to balance privacy and protection. Even less when it's considered FUNDAMENTAL to the operation.
Keep your interdepartmental communications. Get a warrant. Let people know when you're stalking them.
