We call on the President and the Congress to repeal the Patriot Act and other knee-jerk, reactionary legislation passed in response to the 9/11 attacks.
We understand the need for security, but also recognize the wisdom in the words of Benjamin Franklin, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
These laws do more long term damage to our country than terrorists ever have.
