Real estate taxes on homes threaten each and every home owner. The idea that if you don't pay a few thousand dollars, the government can seize your home and sell it for the taxes owed is theft. You are out of your home but still held liable for the unpaid mortgage. For Seniors especially, who have long paid for their homes, the idea they can be thrown out for falling behind or not paying real estate taxes is wrong. This needs to be addressed at a federal level and homes that are a citizens primary residence should be exempt from real estate taxes and from foreclosure by any level of government.
