Civilians should no longer have the right to bear arms. The argument for overthrowing an oppressive government is past its time, and the need for a militia is obsolete as well. Possessing guns for self defense is useless, because civilians wouldn't need guns for self defense if no one else has guns. Additionally, nonlethal weapons such as stun guns could suffice for self defense. Such nonlethal weapons could also be used in recreation. It is time to abolish the second amendment, too many tragedies have occurred and innocent lives lost.
