The second amendment has allowed unfit individuals to obtain guns and use them against the population. Statistics have shown that owning a gun increases the potential for violent death. The original rationale for the 2nd amendment was to protect against a rogue government. This no longer makes sense given our government has the most sophisticated and lethal weaponry in the world and would quickly overwhelm any resistance. There is more danger from unfit people with guns than from our government, any outside government, or group. Guns should be severely restricted to military or special police use.
