Repeal the Second Amendment, creating a new starting point for all conversations on gun rights and restrictions.

Created by M.S. on December 23, 2012

Absent a repeal of the Second Amendment, necessary and effective regulation of sophisticated weaponry will remain practically impossible.

This proposal should be introduced in Congress every year, on a fitting anniversary of a preventable tragedy related to gun violence. Surely, at first, it would be dismissed, and many would scoff. But if the conversation continues over time, and men and women of integrity remain committed to the cause of pursuing reasonable access to guns in our country, this change could be realized in time. Gun rights would then be exclusively established by legislative bodies.

In 1791, Americans were granted the right to gun access. The lethality of modern weaponry requires a simple but radical change. Gun control requires a repeal of the Second Amendment.
