Repeal the second amendment. It may have been useful at one time but is no longer relevant to modern civilized society.

Created by E.W. on January 18, 2013

"The Right to Live Free of the Fear of Violence."

Americans should have the right to expect a reasonably safe life. Easily obtainable fire arms restrict our rights. We suffer from gun violence far in excess of countries that forbid firearms altogether.

The second amendment was created at a time when the fear of tyranny was reasonable. This is no longer true. The majority of Americans do not own firearms and they wish others did not as well.

There simply is no reasonable argument for allowing civilians access to deadly weapons in a modern, peaceful society. We can never eliminate all violence, but we can eliminate most gun violence.

The USA should lead the world towards peace, and elimination of government endorsing the sale of deadly weapons is both practical and necessary.
