Repeal the so-called "Tiarht Amendment".

Created by D.B. on January 22, 2013

Rather than new gun control restrictions, the administration should focus on enforcement reform. Currently, the ATF is under restrictions that limit its overall efficacy:

National Trace data can only be released in conjunction with ongoing criminal investigations. Example: national trace data cannot used to revoke the license of a gun dealer who was caught breaking the law.

Dealers are required by federal law to report loss/theft from their inventories, but the ATF is forbidden from requiring preventative checks and reporting to detect such losses.

Background check data is destroyed after 24 hours. If falsified records are not discovered in that time, it becomes much harder to track and prosecute such crimes.

Effective enforcement is the way to curb gun violence. Not limited access.
