repeal the social security tax on the earned income of working seniors over 70 years old and their employers.

Created by R.B. on December 18, 2012

Currently seniors over 70 years old and their employers must continue to contribute to the social security trust fund. In return their social security annuity is potentially increased; however, the annual increase is so small that the senior typically would have to live past 100 to recover the additional payments. This tax is particularly burdensome for self-employed seniors, who must pay both the employee's and employer's portion of the tax. It discriminates against seniors who continue to work to make ends meet and discourages those who have talents and skills that our economy needs - especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Finally it discriminates against earned income vs. interest, dividends, capital gains and rental income. This is unfair!
