This petition is about equal opportunity. It's about creating a level playing field.
It's not about creating equal outcomes, or taking from the rich and giving to the poor.
It's about good, old-fashioned American fair play.
The problem is that working Americans are being punished with tax rates double what rich people pay on investment income. Triple, if you count payroll taxes.
Proponents of lower capital gains taxes will tell you that they're important to encourage investment activity. We say that labor is at least as important, maybe more. Certainly, we as wage earners deserve equal treatment!
We're OK with paying our fair share. Of course we wish our own taxes were lower...but it's especially maddening that the rich are getting special breaks!
Repeal these unfair tax rates now!
