The switchblade act of 1958 was created in order to curb crime in the US at the time, but that law has now made it so law-abiding citizens cannot carry switchblade knives in many places where they're considered illegal. The poor interpretation of this act has resulted in many arrests over "illegal" weaponry, and fear amongst knife owners who own knives that look similar to switchblades. If these knives are made legal in the nation once more, no longer will law-abiding knife owners have to worry that their spring-assisted knives will be mistaken for switchblades.
