Repeal the Taft-Hartley Act

Created by A.L. on February 04, 2014

This petition is to help create a movement to repeal the Taft-Hartley Act, a law which has stifled the rights of labor in the United States unlike any other democratic, civilized industrialized nation.

The Taft-Hartley Act imposed restrictions on labor and was dubbed the Slave Labor Law by Labor leaders when enacted by a pro corporate Congress in 1947. The law outlawed jurisdictional strikes and secondary boycotts. It oulawed closed shop clauses and regulated union shop clauses. It authorizes states to enact right to work laws which allow workers to enjoy union won benefits without paying dues. The law also gave companies the right to campaign against unions and prohibits supervisors rights to organize and allows their termination if they disagree.

It is long overdue to repeal this law.
